VCE 93 Reunion

Those of you who attended VCE 93 may be interested to know that someone is anonymously organising a reunion. To get on the hit list, send an email to eltham93@hotmail.com with your name and contact details. They're currently looking at venues for nighttime on Friday 21st or Saturday 22nd November, and there will probably be a small cover charge on the night to cover finger food and venue hire, you'll be able to pay at the door. Can the admin of this site please get in touch with the above email address so that a forum can be set up to organise this?Cheers,Blare

Vale Finn Macrae

We were saddened to learn of the death of Mr Finlay (Finn) Macrae on the 7th October, 2002. Finn was a respected member of the Eltham High School staff from 1955 to 1968, teaching English and History.   Finn's connection to the school continues as he is recognised through the Finn Macrae Prize for Year 8 Debating. Finn's son, Doug, attended Eltham High School and now two grandchildren attend the school and Finn has a close family member on the Eltham High School Council.   Many parents, students and staff will remember Finn's active discussion with former student Phillip Adams when both Finn and Phillip attended the 2000 Anthology Launch in the New Barn at Monsalvat.    Finn is well remembered by his past students and his passing is a sad loss. The thoughts of the school community are with the Macrae family.

Building Program

The building program is moving along at a great pace. On October 28th 2002 builders will occupy the site for the commencement of the Technology, Home Eco and classroom block. This is a nine classroom block (3 Information Technology rooms, a Home Economics centre, five classrooms, a staffroom and three smaller teaching spaces) which will cost $1.97m. At the same time a School Council funded project will upgrade the instrumental music facility (enlarge the rehearsal room, 5 additional teaching spaces, an electronic music classroom, recording studio, enlarged office and storage) at a cost of more than $400,000. On the last day of term 2, 2002 the Department of Education and Training announced approval for the development of plans for the upgrade of the science wing. The upgrade, expected to be funded in the 2003 state budget is for $750,000 and will see the whole western side of the wing, including the corridor receive a long overdue refurbishment. By the end of 2003-04 financial year the school is likely to have completed $3.1m worth of build improvement within 3 years! And planning is just starting for the upgrade to the school canteen. We really are suckers for punishment.
